Ponte Vedra BeachPonte Vedra Beach is an unincorporated seaside community 18 miles southeast of downtown Jacksonville. In 1916 the community was a titanium and zircon mining site, earning it the nickname, “Mineral City.” Today Ponte Vedra Beach is best known for its miles of beautiful white sand beaches and its association with golf and tennis—it is the home of the Association of Tennis Professionals and PGA Tours as well as the host city for The Players golf tournament. Tennis is also a popular Ponte Vedra Beach pastime; the city has 60 tennis courts. Residents run the gamut from young families with children to retirees; housing options are equally varied with single family homes, condos, beachside residences, golf course properties and gated communities. Ponte Vedra Beach was a finalist on CNN and Money magazine's 2005 list as one of the best places to live in the U.S. Ponte Vedra Beach Demographics and Community Information |
